A spring fixed at the bottom end of an incline of inclination 37º. A small block of mass 2 kg starts slipping down the incline from a point 4.8 m away from the spring. the block compresses the spring by 20 cm, stops momemtarily and then rebounds through a distance of 1 m up the incline. find the spring constant of the spring.

From the WET we get,
mg(4.8sin37) = 0.5*k*(0.2)^2 + 0.5mv^2
57.6  = 0.02k + v^2.............(1)
From bottom to top, applying WET we get,
0.5*2*v^2 = mg(1*sin37)
or
v^2 = 12.....(2)
put (2) in eqn. (1)
we get,
0.02k = 57.6 – 12 => 45.6
k = 45.6/0.02 => 4560/2 => 2780
