The temperature T1 and T2 of two heat reservoirs in an ideal carnot engine are 1500 0 c and 500 0 c.which of these increasing T1 by 100 0 c or decreasing T2 by 100 0 c, would result in greater improvement of efficiency of the engine?

efficiency=(t1-t2)/t1

so if you increase the value of t1 ,the denominator will also rise,so reducing t2 by 100 will give you more efficiency.

Since decreasing the temperature of the sink by 100 degree Celsius result in the greater efficiency than increasing the temperature of the source by hundred degree Celsius
