The temperature T1 and T2 of two heat reservoirs in an ideal carnot engine are 15000c and 5000c.which of these increasing T1 by 1000c or decreasing T2 by 1000c, would result in greater

improvement of efficiency of the engine?

efficiency=(t1-t2)/t1

so if you increase the value of t1 ,the denominator will also rise,so reducing t2 by 100 will give you more efficiency.

Since decreasing the temperature of the sink by 100 degree Celsius result in the greater efficiency than increasing the temperature of the source by hundred degree Celsius
