Suppose there are 100 seats in IIT... The person who got the 100th rank doesnt join in IIT and joins in NIT, will the person who got 101 rank in JEE be given the seat which the 100th rank guy should actually get in IIT?

JEE always select more number of students than the number of seats.See there are 10000 seats and JEE will give rank upto 13000 or 14000.so these extra 3000 to 4000 students can get a chance to enter into IIT.

If a person gets 1st rank in AIEEE & an avge. rank in JEE, then he will definitely go into NIT, right?

Then how can it be rare?
