Perhalic acid is a general name for the family of acids with the general formula HXO4 where X is one of the halogens. The halogens are the group VIIA elements. So,
HFO4 = perfluoric acid
HClO4 = perchloric acid
are the members of the perhalic acid family.
perhalates are ClO4-, BrO4-, IO4-
