there are two metal atoms , so, that means 2 x pairs . and they have 7 valence electron . 
so, 3 electron for each means it remained with 1 electron that can be paired with other metal atom . 
the remaining 3 forms half filled orbital . 
and as u knws half filled orbitals are stable . 
so, the value of x will be 3 here .
