Nickel dimethyloxime Ni(dmg)2 is the most prominent example of oxime ligand which forms stable transition metal complexes.Ni(dmg)2 is an extremely stable complex with strong intramolecular hydrogen bonds. Its an brick red compound formed by addition of dimethyloxime which is an analytical indicator for Ni.The intermolecular interaction in this compound make its crystal packing very distinctive. The Ni(dmg)2 molecules are nearly planar due to high level of conjugation. The X-ray analusis of this compound revealed the existence of extremely short OH....O hydrogen bonds(2.44Å).According to Blinc and Hadzi the OH....O bond is bent and probably not symmetric.
