am giving the most common and general way to determine co-planar nature. For Organic chemistry, atoms involved in resonance in a particular molecule, would lie in the same plane (ex: Benzene,Biphenyl) . For inorganic part, determine the hybridisation, structure and look whether molecules lie in same plane (ex: Square planar is the structure for XeF4 where all the atoms lie in same plane)
