To prepare 0.1 N HCl from concentrated HCl, you will need to dilute an amount of HCl to water.

If we are to make, for example, a 1 L of 0.1 N HCl, the equation will be: (note: Normality of concentrated HCl is about 12 N)

(12 N) x V1 = (0.1 N) x (1 L)

solving for the volume V1 , we get:

V1 = 8.33x10-3L = 8.33ml

so to prepare a 1 L, 0.1 N HCl from a stock solution of concentrated HCl (12 N)
we will need to obtain 8.33ml of concentrated HCl and transfer it to a 1 L volumetric flask, then dilute to volume (1 L) with water.

To check the true concentration of the prepared HCl solution, titrate it with .1N standard Na2CO3 solution ,which is primary standard.and is prepared by accurately weighing 5.3g of dried anhydrous Na2CO3 in 1 l of disitlled water using suitable indicator.

hello student

Mix one mole (36.5gram) ofHCL in 100mLofwateror else you can add0.1mole (3.65 gram) ofHCLin 1000mL or 1 L ofwater. There you have0.1 N HCLsolution! :) So if we have toprepare 100ml 0.1N HClsolution we will add 0.365gHClin a100mlstandard flask and then we will addwaterupto the calibration Mark.

Hope it helps
Thankyou
