Dear student
There is only one unpaired electron in the superoxide ion (that is the O2 ion that has -1 charge)
In the neutral O2 molecule, the last two electrons go into an anti-bonding set of 2 pi orbitals and so are unpaired (2 unpaired electrons). O2 (-) has one extra electron than the normal O2 molecule which pairs up with one of the 2 initial unpaired electrons in one of the orbitals, leaving behind one unpaired electron.
