Preparation of Nacl or KCL
Sodium Chloride (NaCI) is also known as common salt and is found in sea water, in salt wells, inland lakes and in deposits of rock salt.
It is manufactured from sea water and water of certain lakes. This water is evaporated by solar heat and wind when NaCI separate out. Thus crude slat is obtained. On passing HCI gas in the saturated solution of crude salt we get white precipitate of pure sodium chloride.
Note : It is colourless crystalline substance. It exists as dehydrate at low temperatures. On heating the crystals break up with a cracking sound. Its solubility does not change appreciably with rise of temperature.
