Here the ans is 2 but if i put 1-sin^2 theta in place of cos^2 theta, I get different answer that is 3. What should be the correct steps?

2 is correct answer. In RHS, maximum of sin^2 theta should be used.
hence 3 – 1 = 2

Dear student

Here in your rhs of page minimum value of whole expression can be 2 as ( sin theta)^2 can have value 1 and 3-1 would be 2

Just a small error

While adding add minimum while subtracting subtract maximum
