Approved Tutor Answer7 Years agoAccording to conservation of linear momentum
5MVo = -M Vo + 4M V
Hence
V = 3Vo/2
As V > Vo hence cannot be in circular orbit.
Energy of 4M mass
= - 4MgMe/ r + ½ 4M V²
= put V = 3 Vo/2
Then
Vo² = GMe/r
Hence it will be unbound
