A stone of mass 0.25 kg tied to the end of a string is whirled round in a circle of radius 1.5 m with the speed 40rpm in horizontal plane. What is the tension in the string? What is the maximum speed with which the stine can be whirled around, if the string can withstand a maximum tension of 200 N.

Angular velocity of stone = 40 .2pi/60 = 4/3pi = 4.2  rad/s
Tension = centrifugal force = m.ω2.r = 6.6 N
Max angular velocity for tension = 200N will be 23rad/s …
