Molisch's test is used for the detection ofcarbohydrates. Add two drops of alcoholic solution ofα-naphthol to thecarbohydrate solution under study. Add conc. H2SO4slowlyby the side of the test tube.Aviolet ring is formed at the junction of the two liquids, ifcarbohydrate is present.
