Nitrilerubber, also known as NBR,Buna-N, and acrylonitrile butadienerubber, is asynthetic rubber copolymerof acrylonitrile (ACN) and butadiene. Trade names include Perbunan, Nipol, Krynac and Europrene.

Buna-N is actually abbreviated form, where Bu represents 1, 3-butadiene, na represents Na, sodium and N represents nitrile (acrylonitrile). Thus, buna-N is a copolymer of 1, 3-butadiene and acrylonitrile usually copolymer of 1, 3-butadiene and acrylonitrile usually polymerise in the presence of sodium.
