Dear student
Electrostatics is a branch of physics that deals with study of the electric charges at rest. Since classical physics, it has been known that some materials such as amber attract lightweight particles after rubbing. The Greek word for amber, ?λεκτρον, or electron, was the source of the word 'electricity'.
The principle of electrostatic charge encompasses the force between two charges that are static or moving slowly in a medium. This charge is associated with "rubbing" surface valence electrons off and building up as a charged layer on the surface of the medium creating a "boundary layer" charge.
