or as you say, partially differentiate it with respect to all coordinates in order to get the components of field...
Hence E(x)=-dV/dx (it should be debra but its not on my keyboard so...)
=-8x, and x=1, so E(x) =-8...
Now, E(y)=0, as partially dofferentiating this expression with respect to y will give zero, similarily for the z one...
Hence the final answer, E=8i
