An electric current is a flow of electric charge. In electric circuits this charge is often carried by moving electrons in a wire.

Electric current is the flow of an electric charge over a certain medium. The charge is carried by electrons in a conductor like a wire and it can also be carried by ions in an electrolyte. Current is measured by the use of an ammeter.
