Enthalpy of combustion of carbon , delcH = -393.5 kJ/mol Amount of CO2 = 35.2gm C + O2 ------------> CO2 no. of moles = Mass/ Molar mass = 35.2/44 = 0.8 moles thus heat released will be = -393.5 * 0.8 = -314.8 kj Thanks & Regards Aarti Gupta askiitians Faculty

C + O2 -> CO2
moles of CO2= 35.2/44=.8 moles of C02 formed
Heat released = .8 * 393.5 = 314.8 Kj
Thanks and Regards,
Robin
