Mitotic spindles are micro-tubule based structures that play a role in separating the chromosomes of sister chromatids. Prior to cell division, centrosome replicates to form spindle that helps move the chromosomes of the sister chromatids to two opposite poles of the cell.
Before the initiation of cell division, there has to be initiation and assembly of spindle, microtubules, the proteinaceous components i.e. Katanin, Kinesin, Dynein, all of which help to organize the spindle by forming kinetochore microtubules and polar microtubules for the attachment of chromosomes along the equatorial plane of the cell.
