I don’t get it whether i have to be in top 20 percentile or score more than 75%

Understand that 75% marks is not compulsory for every board. You have to satisfy any one of criteria i.e one should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards.
In many state board very few students get more than 75% and that’s why top-20 percentile roughly lies less than 75%. So, students getting below 75% have chance to get admission in NIT or IIT if they fall in top 20 percentile.
