Hi..
The seat which you will be getting by the SC or any category rank will be different from the seat that you will be getting if you use just the Common Rank. So, if you belong to any specific category other than the general category, the category rank may be helpful since there will be more chances of getting a better seat. But then also it actually depends upon the sitiations like many a times the seats for the category rank are filled up and you may be left with less chances of getting a good seat.
In such case the AIR rank may help you out.
