the ends of a rod of length 'l' move on 2 mutually perpendicular lines. Find the locus of the point on the rod, which divides it in the ratio 2:1

 l² =a²+ b²

 h= a/3   or a = 3h

 k = b/3   or b= 3k

so  l² =9h²+9k²

  h²+k² = (l/3)²
