Besides the normal dominant gene which may be disadvantageous in certain cases, when a cross is made between a dominant and recessive individual progeny does not show disadvantageous character.

In a homozygous condition both the alleles are same but in Heterozygous condition one is dominant and one is recessive thats why if a cross is made between heterozygous condition the dominant gene dominants the recessive gene thats why it does not show the disadvantageous character.
