Photosynthesisis a process used by plants and other organisms to convertlightenergy, normally from thesun, into chemical energy that can be laterreleasedto fuel the organisms' activities. This chemical energy is stored incarbohydrate molecules, such assugars, which are synthesized fromcarbon dioxideandwater– hence the name photosynthesis. The oxygen part of the glucose formed comes from carbon dioxide.

The oxygen in glucose comes from H2O and not at all from CO2. This was discovered by Cornelius Van Neil. This was a mis conception previously prevailing that oxygen in glucose comes from CO2 and was proposed by Senebier and was Wrong.
Ruben and Kamen (1941) confirmed that source of oxygen is H2O and not from COand used radio isotopic Oto proove this.
