use perpendicular distance formula

p1 =|2a|/√(sec²α + cosec²α)

= |2a|/√1/sin²α cos²α)

=|asin2α|

p2 =|acos2α|/√(sin²α +cos²α)

=|acos2α|

p1/p2 = tan2α
