What is the domain of the function f(x) = sqrt [{cos ^-1( 1 – |x|) /2 }}?? While solving this question the steps were- -1 less than or equal to 1 – |x|/2 less than or equal to 1 = – 2 less tha or equal to 1 – |x| less than or equal to 2 . ….so on . Then we get – 1 less than or equal to |x| less than or equal to 3 Then we get 2 intervals [-3,3] and [-1,1]. So final interval should be intesection of both or union of both. Please explain.

While solving this question the steps were-
-1 less than or equal to 1 – |x|/2 less than or equal to 1
= – 2 less tha or equal to 1  – |x| less than or equal to 2 . ….so on . Then we get
 – 1 less than or equal to |x| less than or equal to 3
Then we get 2 intervals [-3,3] and [-1,1].
So final interval should be intesection of both or union of both. Please explain.
