Given : L = 2 m
                              r = 1cm = 10–2 m
                              twist = θ = 0.8 rad
                                 angle of shear = ɸ          = (rθ / L)
                                                            = {(10–2 × 0.8) / 2}
                                                            = 0.4 × 10–2
                              i.e. shear strain = 0.004 rad
