For the first branch, curren drawn from battery is\dfrac{E}{R}.

For the second branch, current drawn from battery is\dfrac{E}{R}e^{-t/RC}

For the third branch, current drawn from battery is\dfrac{E}{R}e^{-t/2RC}.

From Kirchoff’s current law, total current through the battery is the sum of all three.

Hence the correct answer is option (2).
