BREATHING: It is the inhalation and exhalation of air. It is a voluntary and physical process. No energy is released or used. The gaseous exchange occurs through lungs. RESPIRATION: It is breakdown of complex substances into simpler ones in presence of oxygen. It is an involuntary and biochemical process. Energy is released in the form of ATP. Gaseous exchange occurs the cell membranes or in cell organelles like mitochondrion.
