DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DISPLACEMENT AND DISTANCE. ANSWER IT. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DISPLACEMENT AND DISTANCE.ANSWER IT.
Distance is a scalar quantity that refers to "how much ground an object has covered" during its motion. Displacement is a vector quantity that refers to "how far out of place an object is"; it is the object's overall change in position.
Distance is the length of the actual path taken by an object whereas displacement is the shortest distance between the initial and final points of the path taken by an object. For example, imagine a train moving in a circular track. After the train completes one full circle in the track, the distance travelled by the train in the given time is not zero but the displacement is zero. Hope it helps!
