What will happen if the split rings i.e the commutators in a electric motor is replaced byA circular ring Slip rings like that used in A/C generators?Explain elaborately

The split rings are in sliding contact with the brushes such that current flows the external circuit to the armature. If the split rings are replaced by slip rings i.e. complete circular rings, it would short circuit the armature
