When base is mixed with water there is decrease in the concentration of OH– ions per unit volume.

When an excess base is dissolved in a solution of sodium hydroxideSodium hydroxide dissociates into OHions and when the number of OH- increases then concentration also increases because concentration is the number of OHions present per unit volume.
