It is carried out in both freshwater and saltwater. It mostly involves farming in ponds or reservoirs or tanks. Paddy fields can also be used as a source for fish farming. 3. It helps in restoration of endangered species and habitat and also prevents the escape of species which are not in that habitat. The types of fish which is cultured in pisciculture includes salmon, catfish, carp and tilapia. It also improves the over-exploitation of fisheries.
