Charge is a property of the body. It comes under frictional electricity. Losing excess electrons leads to positive charge. To understand this concept, you can take an experiment in your day to day life example. Amber or lodestone. Donors will be positive and acceptors will be negative. Complete Step-by-Step solution: Gaining charge is a property of a body or an object. The electric charge is positive or negative, developed on objects, when they are rubbed with each other. Take an example of scale and piece of paper. When scales get rubbed on hair and held near the piece of paper, the paper pieces get attracted toward scale. It means both have some kind of charge. Now the question comes how this charge appears? We know that, when two substances are rubbed together, some electrons from the atoms on the surface of one and transferred to another are removed. The body which gains electrons is negatively charged and the other which loses electrons is positively charged. So basically there are two types of electric charges one is positive and other is negative. An object is negatively charged if it gains excess electrons or gives excess electrons to it and otherwise positively charged if it loses excess electrons or is uncharged.
