acid rain is when our rain water is mixed with harmuful chemical substances. due to the increase in industrialisation the pollutants in the air increases dramatically . these pollutants mix with water molecules and come out as rain . pollutants like sulphur cause acid rain . the sulphur molecules gets oxidised and becomes a toxic substance . let look at that reaction chemically ,
2SO(g) + O2 (g) + 2H2O (l) → 2H2SO4 (aq) the same reaction follows with nitrogen , 4NO2 (g) + O2 (g) + 2H2O (l) → 4HNO3 (aq)  . Acid rain causes multiple harm to our environment. the harmful effects of acid rain are :
1.they cause skin related problems to humans
2.they kill smaller animals and insects
3.kills plants
4. causes distress to organisms in water bodies
5.causes corrosion to buldings , statues, monements. even Taj mahal had multiple changes after a acid rain. after which government has stopped industrial activities near Taj mahal to prevent our ancient culture
the reaction that happened in the case of Taj mahal is CaCO3 +  H2SO4 → CaSO + H2O + CO .

prevention :
1.we need to check the emissions of different factories . our government has slowly started measures to control the pollution problem
