Hint The first Factories Act was basically designed to conserve children, to provide few measures for health and safety of the workers, to protect the environment, to ensure a sound working environment, to assure welfare of the person, to ensure protection from hazardous equipment. Complete answer: Factory is the group of buildings where goods and products are manufactured in large quantities. A building where on 10 or more persons are engaged if power is used or, 20 or more persons are engaged if power is not used in a manufacturing process section$2$(m). In India the first Factories Act was enacted in 1881 year. Following this Act, Factory commission was furnished in the year 1885 . It is applicable for only those factories, which employed 100 or more workers. Regarded as one of the Noble and a Comprehensive Labour Legislation, which is inforce in our country. The Factories Act, 1948 came into force on 1949 and spread to the whole India. It covers all aspects regarding to workers employed in factories: 1. Secure- safety, health, welfare 2. Regulates- working hour 3. Ensures- annual leave with payments 4. Provides- additional production to women, workmen, prohibition of children. Component of the Factories Act- 1948 : 1. Total number of chapters- 11 2. Total number of sections- 120 Thus the option (A) is correct Note The Factories Act extended to Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Pondicherry in 1963 , extended to Goa in 1965. This Act extended to Jammu and Kashmir in 1970 . The Factories Act was amended in 1949,1950,1956,1976 and 1989 . Other Act important Acts are The Indian Boilers Act- 1923 , The Indian Dock Labourers Act- 1934 .
