JEE Main 2027 Important Dates

Mark your calendars! The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts JEE Main in two sessions each year, and a candidate's best score across both counts toward the final rank. Based on the pattern NTA has followed consistently for the last several years, here is the tentative schedule for 2027:

Session 1:

Application Form Release: Last week of October 2026
Last Date to Apply: Last week of November 2026
Admit Card Download: Mid-January 2027
Examination Dates: Last week of January 2027
Result Declaration: Mid-February 2027

Session 2:

Application Form Release: Early February 2027
Last Date to Apply: Late February 2027

For reference — JEE Main 2026 has already been completed. Session 1 was held 21–28 January 2026 (Paper 1) and 29 January 2026 (Paper 2A/2B); Session 2 was held 2–8 April 2026 (Paper 1) and 7 April 2026 (Paper 2A/2B). The final combined result was declared on 5 May 2026.

JEE Main 2027 Paper Pattern

NTA simplified the format starting with the 2025 cycle — the earlier "answer any N of the given questions" optional-choice format in Section B was removed, and every question is now compulsory. The exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode except for the Drawing section in Paper 2A, which will be pen and paper based.

JEE Main 2027 Eligibility Criteria

There is no age limit for appearing in JEE Main — NTA does not prescribe any minimum or maximum age, and there is no birth-date cutoff for any candidate, in any category.

Educational Qualifications:

Passed Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2025 or 2026, or appearing in the Class 12/equivalent examination in 2027
NTA does not prescribe a minimum Class 12 percentage merely to appear for JEE Main
Separately, admission to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs requires 75% aggregate in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST candidates), or being within the top 20 percentile of the respective board — this is a counselling-stage admission criterion, not a condition for sitting the exam itself

Number of Attempts:

JEE Main is held in two sessions each year, and a candidate may appear in one or both
Eligibility to attempt is tied to the candidate's Class 12 passing year window above, rather than a fixed lifetime attempt count
Each session a candidate appears in counts as one attempt

Subject Combination:

For B.E./B.Tech: Physics and Mathematics are compulsory, along with one of Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology
For B.Arch: Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry
For B.Planning: Mathematics is mandatory
