Normalization favors rural, female candidates in JEE Main
According to the available statistics, normalization method in JEE Main has helped students with rural background and female students to show their mettle in the exam. According to the CBSE, the top 1,000 rank holders in JEE Main 2013 included 136 female students as against 96 female candidates in 2012 and 76 female candidates in 2011. Similarly, 136 students with rural background made it to the Top 1,000 ranks in JEE Main 2013 as against 90 students from rural areas in 2012.
117 students from government schools made it to Top 1000 in JEE 2013 rank list as against 89 students in 2012.

In the top 5,000 rank holders, there were 749 female candidates in 2013. 624 students were from government school, up from 545 in 2012.
JEE Main 2014 application form to be released in November
The latest buzz about JEE Main 2014: The online application form for the exam is to be released on the official website of the Central Seat Allocation Board (csab.in) in November. Students can submit the form from November 15 to December 16, 2013.

14 lakh students registered for JEE Main 2013!
In 2013, the registrations for the Joint Engineering Examination (JEE) Stage 1 examination jumped up by 25% to touch the golden figure of 14 lakh! Only 11 lakh students had registered for JEE Main 2012 – when AIEEE was introduced in its new avatar for the first time.
The sharp rise in the numbers could be due to dissolution of several state-level engineering entrance examinations.
