History

UVCE LogoThe University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) is an engineering college affiliated to the Bangalore University, Bangalore. The college was established in the year 1917, by Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya and has the approval of the AICTE and the Government of Karnataka. The departments are official recognized by the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi. At present, the UVCE is the only engineering college under the archives of the Bangalore University. Equipped with modern laboratories and facilities, UVCE is recognized for its dedicated faculty board and its progressive research and development activities.
 

Campus

At present, the UVCE is the only engineering college under the records of the Bangalore University. The campus has an academic sector equipped with modern laboratories and facilities. Then there is the residential area with hostels for both the boys and the girls. Then there are the playgrounds and spaces where events and functions keep on happening from time to time. UVCE is situated at KR Circle and in the neighborhood of Vidhana Soudha, Government of Karnataka, with a campus area spreading over 15 acres, housing in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics andComputer Science Engineering.

Hostel

 In view of the fact that the University is not primarily residential in nature, the number of hostels is not in dimension to the needs of all its students. They are more in the interest of students coming from rural areas or distant places and who desires to reside on the campuses closer their departments of studies. But then there is the option of staying in hostels, a number of which can be found in many parts of the city.

Cultural Activities

UVCE has 4 major annual fests, 'MILAGRO' the annual Inter-collegiate Cultural Fest, 'IMPETUS' the IEEE-UVCE Annual Technical Fest, 'INSPIRON' the UVCE Placement Office's Annual Technical and Entrepreneurship Extravaganza, and 'FIESTA' the annual Intra-College Cultural Fest. INSPIRO is another fest which emphasizes on team building, leadership, entrepreneurship, and to put onus on showcasing the management skills of young and bright minds.

Alumni

The Alumni associations of Central College and the University Visvesvaraya Engineering College (UVEC) are spread globally and are involved in front line engineering education, research and entrepreneurship. Every year, nearly about 450 students graduate at the under-graduate level from five disciplines and are employed in reputed organizations. In the past academic years nearly 75% of the students have been undertaken by leading organizations including large number of multi-national and Indian companies like Infosys, IBM, TCS, Bluestar Infotech,Digital Global Soft,Future Technologies,SLK Software,Oracle Corp. to name a few.
