Dear Kapil,

We know the width of the frindge in the young's double slit experiment is given by the formula λ*D/d

Where λ is the wave length of the light and D is the ditance of the slits from the screen and d is the seperation between the slits.

When we replace air with water which has refractive index μ(>1), the opyical distance between the screen and the slits become D/μ.

So, the frindge with decreases ultimately.
