When the hydrogens of are replaced by 3 CH Br methyl groups the rate of 2 N S reaction with a
given nucleophile decreases
CH3Br > CH3CH2Br > CH3 −CH2CH2Br > (CH3 )2CHBr 3 3 > (CH ) CBr
• So the order of relative reactivity of alkyl halides towards 2 N S reaction is
Methyl halide > 1o > 2o > 3o Alkyl halide

Dear kumar,
Structure of alkyl halides is the tetrahydral.Because in this molecules carbon has sp3 hybridisation so it has tetrahydral structure.

the alkyl halide functional group consist of an sp3 hybridized carbon atom bonded to a halogen via a s bond.the carbon halogen bonds are typically quite polar due to the electronegativity andpolarizability of the halogen.
