IT IS THE PRODUCT OF MAGNITUDE OF CHARGE AND LENGTH OF DIPOLE.
        P=q*a
 UNIT debye(D)
it has wide application in chemical bonding:
 1 determining the extent of polar character in a covalent bond.
2 calculating the percentage of ionic character of the bond.
3 predicting the shape of the molecule and their syymetry.
4 distinguishing between cis and trans isomers.
5 identifying the position of the substituenty in substituted aromatic ring.
