Equivalent weights may be calculated from molar masses if the chemistry of the substance is well known: sulfuric acid has a molar mass of 98.078(5) g mol1, and supplies two moles of hydrogen ions per mole of sulfuric acid, so its equivalentweight is 98.078(5) g mol1/2 eq mol1 = 49.039(3) g eq1.
Look much cant be said here for you to understand!!
the greatest help i can render you is to go on to youtube and watch this iitian named dushyant kumar teach this topic ...he does it brilliantly.
PLS APPROVE!!
THANK YOU

Equivalent mass specially means  it is the mass of oneequivalent, that is the mass of a given substance which will. combine or displace directly or indirectly with 1.008 parts by mass of hydrogen or 8 parts bymass of oxygen or 35.5 parts by mass of chlorine..
u can calculate equivalent mass by the following formula
EQUIVALENT MASS = MOLECULAR MASS / NO OF ELECTRONS GAIN OR LOST .
HOPE IT CLEARS YOUR DOUBT
