Best method suitable for refining of Ni is Mond’s process.
The corresponding reactions involved in Mond’s process are:
NiO + H2 ===> Ni + H2O
then
Ni +  4CO ==> Ni(CO)4
Again,
Ni(CO)4   ===> Ni + 4CO
