it is due to the fact that because of presence of OH group,propanol is able to show intermolecular Hydrogen bonding which is a strong force as compared to vander walls forces operating in butane.

We also consider the molecular weight here. As the molecular weight of propanol(60) is greater than butane(58), the van der walls force is also more in propanol which makes higher the boiling point & H-bonding in surely the main reason.With regards...

its because of the presence of intermolecular hydrogen bonding in alcohols and presence of weak wanderwal forces in alkanes
