A thrown and a projected object is the same. Thrown and projected means the same. A projectile motion is a motion which follows a parabolic path. It has two components-horizontal and vertical. Therefore it has velocity in two components. It has some initial velocity. An object dropped experiences free fall, that is, initial velocity is 0 and is under constant acceleration due to gravity.
