Kindly help me in the following question "two heavy metallic plates are joined together at 90 deg. a laminar sheet is hinged at the line AB joining the two metallic plates. two rubber obstacles are fixed one on each metallic plate at a distance from line AB such that the reaction due to hinges on the laminar sheet is zero during impact...................." how can we know about this distance ?

Dear diksha,

6 x 0.5 = (1.2 + 30. x2) (w'+w) ..........(1)

                6 = 30 (w'+w) x

                Solving, x = 0.1 or 0.4 meter.

                Rejecting x = 0.4, x = 0.1 m.

                w' = 1 rad/sec

                No. of impacts = infinite.
