How to identify whether a given object has a positive or negative charge???

@ Saloni, to find whether a given object is positivelycharged or negetively, we can use an object which is positively charged. If the given object is repelled then we will know that it is positively charged and if it is attracted then we will know that it is negetively charged........

but yugabrat ,  to bring a positively charged object near an other object , we need to know whether the object is positively charged . and that is my question........how to identify an positive or negative charge ...

@saloni we can do it by bring the article near a gold leaf electroscope. if a positively charged object is brought towards the top of the figure below, the 2 gold leaf will move towards the opposite direction and if a negatively charged object is brought towards the top of the figure below, they will sick each other.

@saloni we can do it by bring the article near a gold leaf electroscope. if a positively charged object is brought towards the metal cap of the figure below, the 2 gold leaf will move towards the opposite direction and if a negatively charged object is brought towards the metal cap of the figure below, they will stick each other.

When the cap is touched with a charged object, the charge flows down the metal rod and the gold leaf. Since both conductors will have an excess of the same type of charge, the repulsion between like charges causes the gold-leaf to be deflected from the end of the rod.

its the law of magnetism . same pole attracts and opposite pole attracts.
