Faraday discovered the principle of electromagnetic induction.
.
He took a magnet and a coil wth galvanometer and did many experiments including displacing the magnet towards the coil then coild towards magnet then as both in motion etc.
.
And reluctantl he observed the deflection in Galvanometer due to current induced in the coil.
and concludes,
E = – dphi/dt.
where phi is the current flux.
